Give me all the studio sessions

I will be the first to tell you that San Diego is full of fantastic outdoor locations fit for family photoshoots. BUT, and hear me out, there is something so classic and timeless about a studio session. I have recently become quite enamored with studio sessions, so consider this my attempt to convince you to move your next family photoshoot indoors. Let's looks at some of the benefits:

1) The minimalist backdrop works incredibly well with various wardrobe styles, props, and when printed the walls in your home.

2) The natural light is oh so yummy and flattering and at certain times of the day can get really unexpected and bold.

3) It really is a blank canvas, which means we can keep it simple or get super creative with poses and prompts and props.

4) Natural light studios work best during daytime hours which often works better for families with babies or little ones that might not be able to be on location at dawn or dusk.

5) San Diego has very pleasant weather but there are a few months where it gets HOTTTT, so an AC controlled studio is a fantastic alternative.

Now, with these benefits in mind, let's see some images, yeah? Here is a sneak peak into one of my favorite recent studio sessions. When I mentioned the idea of a neutral 90's inspired studio session to this darling family they were 100% in and clearly killed it with the wardrobe. We brought some tasteful toys for baby just in case she wasn't interested but in the end, all we really needed was the interaction with her parents. Stay tuned for part two of this session, where we contrasted the neutral wardrobe with some bold color!

OH HI!

Hi, I'm Morgan Miles

I'm a lifestyle photographer located in San Diego, California, specializing in families, maternity, and portraits. I'm a professor by day but have always needed an outlet to connect artistically with others. I've done photography on and off since college, but in the past five years my hobby has turned into a second profession. It is an absolute honor and joy to be invited into individuals' and families' lives and to be able to provide them with memories that will last a lifetime.
